Preamble

It has become necessary to develop policies to govern the team and to ensure that everyone understands what they are getting involved in. The policy will set out the teams administration and let everyone know what is expected of them as a team member or team.

1.1 Definitions

1.2 Team - Any Company Paintball Team within the Emergency Services Paintball Brigade.

1.3 Member - anyone who has joined and been accepted by an Emergency Services Paintball Brigade Team.

1.4 Basic Kit - equipment deemed necessary by the team administration that a member is responsible to purchase and maintain.

1.5 Administration - the team administrator(s) and/or owner(s).

1.6 Company - any team within the Emergency Services Paintball Brigade. Does not include associated teams.


2.1 Membership

2.2 Members of the team are appointed and maintained at the descretion of the administration. Members may be removed from the team at any time.

2.3 Notwithstanding section 2.2, the membership may discuss a prospective members merits or hold a vote to determine eligibility for membership.

2.4 Members should be active or former police officers, fire fighters, paramedics, military or professionals identified with the emergency services. Exceptions may be granted by the administration.

2.5 Members must be available two days per month from May through September each year. Failure to meet this comittment without just cause may result in membership termination.

2.6 Members are to purchase and maintain a basic kit.

2.7 Members are responsible to remain in good standing by remitting dues equal to the amount set out in the fees schedule per month for twelve months. Dues can be paid annually or per month.

2.8 Repealed.

2.9 Except where not practicable, members must purchase all equipment and supplies through the team.

2.10 Fees for air fills will be eliminated for team members. The team now gets free compressed air supplied by the Port Hope Fire Department. Fees are paid for carbon dioxide.


3.1 Reservist

3.2 Reservists are team members that have not completed basic training and are not involved in the training programme.

3.3 Team participation is limited to team practice.

3.4 No vote in team policy.

3.5 Team dues are not paid. A fee of $10 per game is payable.

3.6 Reservists cannot constitute more than 1/3 of the teams membership.

3.7 The highest rank for a reservist is sergeant.


4.1 Voting

4.2 Voting on team issues will be done electronically by way of a poll.

4.3 Polls will run for five business days.

4.4 Poll results of 70% or greater are required for the vote to pass.

4.5 A minimum of 55% of the membership must participate in a vote for it to pass.

4.5.1 In the situation where 55% of the membership has failed to vote, the administration may make a decision based on the members wishes who did.

4.5.2 The policies of Easy Company Paintball Team will be called by-laws as of June 10, 2007 and as such will require votes to pass, delete or amend by-laws. The present policies will stand until such time as the eligible voting members democratically propose otherwise. The by-laws are governed by the Emergency Services Paintball Brigade.

4.6 The administration may increase the percentage of poll results or voting members required for an issue believed to be contentious.

4.7 Members can have another member set up a forum registration for them. They can then designate that member to be their proxy for voting purposes.

4.8 While voting will regulate day to day operations of the team, the administration or designee will retain veto rights and this section will be exempt from by-law priviledges.


5.1 Company's

5.2 All company's are governed by these by-laws.

5.3 Company's are required to purchase from the team store.

5.4 Company's may own and maintain their own website.

5.5 Company websites must have a description of their affiliation with the Emergency Services Paintball Brigade and a link to the website as well.

5.6 Each company will have an annual meeting to discuss the team's state, operations, future goals and to review the by-laws. The minutes of such meetings will be forwarded to the Brigade for the purpose of updating by-laws, setting policy and coordinating events for the following year.

5.7 25% of member fees will be forwarded to the brigade. The remainder will be retained by the company for day to day operations.

5.8 Each company will be required to operate a minimum of two fundraising activities per year. 25% of the proceeds of such events are to be remitted to the brigade. The remainder will be retained by the company for day to day operations and equipment.

5.9 A request for large expense items may be made to the brigade. This includes but is not limited to speciality items, event registation, travel or accomodations while on brigade business.

5.10 Company's may retain all monies donated by sponsors but must ensure that the Emergency Services Paintball Brigade is represented with any proposals for sponsorship.
